Coupe acknowledges that the sampling on that track was relatively straightforward, though this is hardly his only approach to the process. His frequent work with Kenny Mason is the best demonstration of this – 'Shell' creates a collage of vocal coos lifting from The Edwards Generation's 'You're the One for Me,' while career highlight 'Dracula' takes notes from 'Devil in a New Dress,' using Smokey Robinson as the starting point and cutting the song down to fragments in Bink!'s style. "I feel like some of us have lost the art of chopping samples," he says of the process. "It's good to experiment and make it different, to chop it up and make it weird for the people who are engaging with it."
